Location: Fergus Falls Minnesota. Specifically, on Swan Lake.
So far our plan for each day is as follows: Rise at 6, breakfast, pack up, run Cyrus' energy out, and head on the road by 8. Stop for lunch and run Cyrus around. Drive till 4 while Cyrus is supposed to sleep the majority of the time... Find a campsite and set up then have fun hiking, canoeing, visiting sights, or whatever the location may hold.
That's the plan. So far yet to occur. Last night we had to jump out of our fly-less tent and run around throwing supplies in the truck and trailer while lightening struck close by. We took the campgroundsmen's words to sure that "their not calling for rain tonight." Well, it rained. We spent several hours not sleeping in the truck for safety. So we started this day off a bit groggy and soggy but non the worse for wear. Though sleep deprivation is one of my toughest trials.
Our camp tonight is a pleasant private owned grounds on Swan Lake with canoes and playsets and loons and coyotes. We took a paddle out before dinner and ended it with a CHILLING dip in that shocked the grogginess right away! Cyrus has been "shooting" ducks and deer with his toy gun. He's been doing pretty well so far though if he'd sleep more he wouldn't be so whiny in the truck. I'm makin good use of all his gifts from grandparents for roadtrip treats. I think we'll go through hen pretty quickly. He did ask once, "I want to go home...!" I gently re-explained to him that we're moving and will have a new home. He does enjoy camping though. He named his camp "camp cake" Maybe remembering his warm fuzzy feeling while eating cake!
